Cherry Capital Con 2013

5/28/2013

We had a great time at C3 this year!  We had a pretty full room of gamers most of the three days of the Con.  I think we had a good variety of new and old games for people to try.  Some of the highlights were a live demo of the Star Wars miniatures game, an HUGE game of Cards against Humanity, Smallworld and Magic Tournaments, and 24 hour gaming Saturday night (Some dedicated players were up all night and still up for Sunday's events!).

This was the first major event for us and we learned a lot!  Next time we will definately dedicate more time to D&D and Magic.  I think having a schedule somewhat will help others play games together.  If you have any suggestions on what we should include in our next event, email us at info@lootthecastle.com!

Another great year!  Can't wait until next time!

Right now we are gearing up for Chery Capital Con to help support Gaming for  a Cure!  Saturday 5/25 we will be holding a Smallworld Tournament.  Sunday 5/26 there will be a Magic Booster Draft Tournament.  Both will be held at the Grand Traverse Resort at 1PM.  Entry for each event is $10 with a chance to win prizes and a portion of the proceeds go toward Gaming for a cure!  Come on out to support Gaming for a cure!  For more information visit our Events Page.

We hope to start a Board Game club very soon that will offer the chance to try a new game at least once a month with other fellow board gamers.  If D&D and MTG are more your style, we are hoping to start new leagues very soon.

After a very successful meeting, Castle Games has teamed up with the local charity fundraising efforts of 'Gaming for a Cure'.  This group, founded in 2006, offers new ways to raise funds for those suffering from cancer through gameplay of all sorts.  Together, we hope to have a fun and exciting game room at Cherry Capital Con this year, bringing lots of new and old games together for a good cause.  If you are interested in volunteering please visit our events page and submit your information.

TableTop Day - We rolled a 20!

4/1/2013

TableTop Day was a success!  We estimated around 50 people attended throughout the 7 hours of game play.  Several groups tried games for the first time and even played more than one.  We received lots of great feedback from attendees including excitement for our opening.  If all goes well we may try to do a similar event later this month.  Special thanks to Right Brain for offering the space and providing enthusiastic support and delicious brews.   For pictures, visit our timeline on Facebook.

The success of the event is really exciting considering we are close to opening day.  At this time, we are mostly ready to get going, just have to find a suitable location in downtown, old town , or as close as possible.

Thank to all those who came out to show support for gaming!

Castle hopes to participate in the recently organized TableTop Day!  It's time for all hobby gamers to come together for fun and debauchery, while rolling and drawing there way to victory!  As soon as we come up with a venue and more information we will let you know!
On March 30th, 2013, premium YouTube channel Geek & Sundry (The Guild, TableTop, Written By A Kid) asks all of our fans to go to their friendly local game store, community center, or host an event at home and play more games. International TableTop Day is a reminder to spend more time and strengthen the bonds with the people who matter most, our friends and family, by playing games together. Tabletop gaming promotes many positive social and cognitive benefits like increased communication, team work, planning, and is an excellent stress relieving activity for all ages. - See more at: http://www.tabletopday.com/index.php/about#sthash.Mxg2tlm1.dpuf

Mail Call!

2/7/2013

Friends and Family should start to receive their letters in the mail this week.  Our fundraising adventure has begun!  Just to reiterate, there are two ways to help us out:

  1. Donate!  Any amount can be donated either by check or the widget on our home page.
  2. Invest!  With a minimum of $500, due to the administrative cost and time, you can become a contributor and receive a small return (3%) for your trouble.  If you are interested in this route, please email, call or write to us for more information.
Our Widget will track the progress of the funds donated through that avenue.  Other contributions (check, cash, etc.) will be subtracted from the total goal on that widget to give a better picture of what is still needed.

Thank you so much for all your support!

Exciting things ahead!

We are SUPER excited to report we have two donations already!  Letters will be going out soon to friends and family asking for participation.  We hope we can atleast earn enough start-up to get a table at a local convention (Cherry Capital Con) and have merchandise to sell.  It would be great to get the word out at that time.  If the stars don't align enough for us to buy merch, we are still looking into running a game event or room.

It looks like we are moving forward with all other areas but still tying up the loose ends of the business plan.  Lots of meetings scheduled in the coming weeks.  Hopefully by the end of this month we will be in full swing!

If you are as excited as we are, please share our cause with your friends and ask them to donate.

Until next time, Live Long and Prosper!

Where is all the Gold?

Help me, fellow adventurer, you're our only hope!
With the business plan under final revision and our website and FaceBook page in full swing, now comes the hard part!  Finding money!  This is the most difficult part of any small business.  Sometimes the entreprenuer(s) has to try many outlets to reach the financial needs of making a dream come true.  Our path is laid out in three ways:

1. Charity.  Please help us!  Friends and Family can expect to be getting a plee from us very soon!

2. Investment.  For a little bit of return, you too can be a part of this exciting undertaking!

4. Banks.  After we try our darndest with independant help, we will ask the big guy for funding.

3.  Credit Cards.  The last and hopefully not inevitable choice for funding.  I think I would rather fight a horde of Goblins than get one but thems the breaks.

Why am I sharing this with you?  Because you my fellow adventurer are our only hope!  If you are interested in option 1 or 2 from above let us know!  We would be happy to have anything you might offer.  Visit the Home Page for the donation widget or email us at info@LootTheCastle.com.
